I have never really followed any photographers while studying at school but i have always had a few photographs that have really stood out at me and have become my favourites over the years. My favourite photograph would probably have to be the "Afghan Girl", a very famous image photographed by Steve McCurry in the late 1980's.

A photographer i found intesting was Jon Lewis, an Australian photographer i met in 2008. Many of his images are black and white portraits of people. I have a keen interest in portrait photography and i really like how he manages to captures emotion in people. When he came to see my photography class he told us about one of his collections called Face to Face - 200 Faces for 200 Years. He described to us his process of being able to capture people in their own moments. He did this through getting people to close their eyes and to relax and imagine. After people were completely relaxed he asked them to open their eyes and he would be the there waiting to photograph the peoples expressions.
These portraits can be found on his website> http://www.jonnylewis.org/gallery/face/
